Learning Center Information
Mission Statement Trinity Learning
Center is a Christian value-based learning center, caring for children 3 to
12 years of age. We provide a safe, positive, nurturing, hands-on
environment, where children learn: Social Skills, Self-help Skills, Build
Self Esteem, Develop Autonomy, and Enhance Creativity.
A Trinity Lutheran Church Ministry Trinity Learning Center began in May, 1987 to answer the need for
quality child care for Trinity's congregation and the McMinnville community.
Trinity Lutheran Church believes that every child deserves the best. Through
this ministry, Trinity Learning Center hopes that children will be nourished
spiritually, mentally, and physically.
Trinity Learning Center is guided by a Board of
Directors comprised of congregational members, the Director and parents. The
Board of Directors is focused on enriching the lives of children and
families in the community while maintaining a high quality of care and
education.
Our Philosophy Trinity Learning Center
believes children will develop spiritually, mentally, physically, socially
and emotionally. The T.L.C. staff honors the philosophy by role modeling a
respectful environment and by promoting and providing opportunities for
growth for the children and their families. This philosophy is based upon
the concept that knowledge is constructed by the child through his/her own
interactions with both their inner and outer world. Children come first and
their ideas and explorations, become the central point of the classroom,
thus the environment says “Yes, you can be…!!!”
T.L.C. Programs
All of the programs at T.L.C. include age-appropriate
activities that use a variety of resources—games, crafts, guest visitors,
field trips, music, books, and computers.
Pre-School & Pre-Kindergarten Children 3 and up to enrollment of kindergarten. Care offered
from 6:30am through 6:00pm. Minimum enrollment is three half days a
week.
The Pre-School and Pre-Kindergarten programs introduces children ages
3-5 to the wonder and the magic of learning, supports the child’s
creativity as they develop a sense of discovery and accomplishment,
introduces problem-solving skills to promote personal empowerment.
Through our respectful role-modeling, children become successful in a
social environment.
Kindergarten Formal Kindergarten: Children who are age five by September 1
may enroll in our Kindergarten program from September to June, Monday
through Friday, 8:00am to 12:00pm. Children may arrive as early as
6:30am.
T.L.C.’s formal Kindergarten program guarantees a small class
size which allows for individualizing the child’s education through,
reading, writing, math and creative arts. We will continue to encourage
and support their creative ideas and explorations in our respectful social
environment. The child continues to be the central point of the classroom as
we encourage their individualism and by challenging them to reach and
achieve their next steps in development.
Kindergarten Enrichment Session: Children
currently enrolled in the McMinnville Public morning Kindergarten may enroll
in our Enrichment Session. Care is offered during the school year from
6:30am to 8:00am and from 10:50am to 6:00pm. Minimum enrollment is five
hours a day. On in-service and no school days, the center will provide full
day child care at an extra cost. We offer child care during the summer
months. Transportation to and from the McMinnville Elementary Schools is
provided at an extra cost.
T.L.C.’s Enrichment program is designed to continue the
child’s development. This program mirrors our Kindergarten Program as
described above.
